Overview

I oversaw the creation of the Evernote Trunk, an app-store-like marketplace that featured over a thousand Evernote-enabled apps, hardware products, and more. Within it's first three years, the Trunk was responsible for driving over 10M app installs and integrations, averaged over 50M MAU, and was a key driver in expanding the userbase from 1M to 100M users.

Challenge

Shortly after Evernote first launched, an API was created to let developers build upon the underlying platform. Evernote needed a way to foster and promote third party integrations, to help drive growth for the service, and engagement by Evernote’s users.

To answer this need, I spearheaded the creation of the Evernote Trunk (or App Center, as it was later called). This was an app store-like marketplace that featured over a thousand apps, hardware products, books, and more, and was available in Evernote for Mac, Windows, iOS, and web.

Results

The Trunk a remarkable 50M MAU, leading to over 10M app installs and hardware integrations, and was a major lever in expanding Evernote’s user base from 1M to 100M users.
